2012 Bristol #1 Race Weekend Info & Discussion

Join in here and discuss all the weekend action for the 2012 Bristol #1 cup race. Robby Gordon will attempt to qualify the #7 SPEED Energy Dodge into the field. Here is the weekend schedule for RGM at the Tennessee track. UPDATE: Robby Gordon had to withdraw after the McClaren techs couldnt diagnose the problem with the EFI/ECU shorting out. Car would not start.

FRIDAY , MARCH 16th

Practice 12:00pm - 1:30 pm/et ( TV - SPEED )
Qualifying 3:30pm - 4:30 pm/et ( TV - SPEED )

Hey Mike How are ya I didn't get to see or here what happened we were out testing some prototype stuff I have been working on. I just happened to here Robby on Sirius and really blew me away that the car wouldn't start! WTF over, ANYTIME that there is a major change like switching from a Carb to FI (even though the EFI being used is a dinosaur) there will be secondary challenges that pop up when you least expect it, but wow, a no-start condition right off the trailer? I have been troubleshooting elecro/mech systems for decades from what I have heard it sounds like they did everything possable to get it lit and on the track, but found the problem too late. With any new configuration It takes a while to come up with a quick mental checklist when things go bad and you need to fix it fast.

Never heard of a wiring harness problem on a carburetor. EFI problems? Nothing to see here, move along now, nothing to see here.

No matter what happens they are going to say it is not an "efi problem", just a problem with each individual componant. Guess what, if the problem would not have happened if there was no EFI then it's an efi problem.

Well RG didn't make the race but I just saw one of the SPEED ENERGY crew men pitting on the rear tires of the 30 ride after it hit the wall.

I used to say that is one race I want to see before I DIE.. Today's race was boring and it looks like I won't need to get on a waiting list to get a ticket. half full

I was at the race and boring doesn't even come close to describing it. It was horrendous! I will never again spend money to go to Bristol Motor Speedway. I had so much room in my seat that I could have stretched out and took a nap. I fired off a email to the General Manager of the track and let him know that my hard earned money would not be wasted in the future if they cant fix the racing problem they have. I encourage anyone who feels the same to let them know!

Just to stir the pot, wtf was with kenseth jumping the restart, and nothing was done.

Maybe I missed but the Dip shits In the booth seemed to think sothing should have been done.

Just got back in from that so-called race. The place was half empty and you could just about sit wherever you wanted. The upside- took no time at all to get back to the interstate and back home.

the race was lame , Nascar is so cookie cutter ,, it makes me sick ,,, preppy drivers ( candy asses ) Hey this isnt F1 or IRL get rid of the Boys large shirts ,,,pussys

Nascar has ruined their own product...pretty much the same 12-15 drivers every race and very little exposure for the little guy/teams. If you don't drive for Roush, Kendrick or Penske, then you don't rate....sad state of affairs for a sport just 4 years ago could do no wrong. Make the sport more affordable to all teams, release your Nascar-only sponsors to support teams, and lower your ticket prices. not so tough a task. I see what happened to open wheel happening again with Nascar.
