SST Dakar

I wonder what the chances are that we will see a SST based truck running the 2013 Dakar in place of the Hummer? RG always said that the Hummer gave away time because of its size on the technical parts of the race course.

and I'm guessing no chance of a SST or small TT. The Hummer is a proven (paid for) piece.

Dakar was brought up when we were talking to Robby at the Sand Show, and he said he wasn't 100% on going to Dakar but thought they were going to run it. I asked if he was using the Hummer and he said yes.

Thinking like everything else, going or not has everything to do with sponsorship. As far as the SST, nuh uh. No extra tires, not enough fuel. Built to allow for short runs, & pit stops. Hummer's a proven beast with what 6-7yrs of R&D into it, & Dakar under it. RG won't bring something different to Dakar unless he has something for those "factory" teams. Thats not happening, unless he's a "factory" team, or had the backing to do constant R&D...which obviously he doesn't even have time to do, right now. It would be a cool promo, but not competitive enough for RG.

don't let the nice looking body fool you sst could survive a battle with a sherman tank.it may not be suttible for dakar ,but it is truly a remarkable peice of craftsmanship it wont be breaking very often

I was hoping for a "green entry"with body panels made of solar panels and sails and ........... perhaps even a chimp copil....its been a long day and we need a serious thread.
