Looking to see how this will affect the THR effort going forward, this is one to just wait and see.
This might be the jump off point into the addressing of land use issues for the Planet Biker Bar members.
Where should the manufacturers spend their $$$ ?
Does a SX , MX, or Off road win count for much if you are thinking about buying a new bike for yourself or a family member?
Where do you ride, track or trail ?
With the current economic and political climate, would you buy a new bike if you had the money?
What would you buy, and where will you ride it?

here my opinions.
"Where should the manufacturers spend their $$$" ? Good open ended question, and very difficult to answer or offer contructive opinion.
"Does a SX , MX, or Off road win count for much if you are thinking about buying a new bike for yourself or a family member?"
No, I firmly believe win on Sunday, buy on Monday is about as stupid of say'n I've ever heard.
"Where do you ride, track or trail ?" Thanks to the nanny state I live in(WA),both track and trail are now limited and distant from my home.As a pre adult, riding (track or trail) where readily available.(private and public) Thankfully Pacific Raceways has reopened a motocross track, other wise if I wanted to ride it's 2+ hours away.
"With the current economic and political climate, would you buy a new bike if you had the money?" No, but I said that when the manufactures went to 4strokes premarily.Owning Formula One'ish 4 strokes is way to expensive and killing off road (all)
motorcycling. The move to 4strokes was two part IMO, The cheating of advancing 4stroke tech. and the displacement rule advantage is one and the perceived POLITICS of 'dirty' 2strokes got us here.
"What would you buy, and where will you ride it?" Vintage 2 stroke motocrossers on a closed course. And thats still not cheap, but it is lesser expensive than 1k a night to drive my Late Model.
Wow. Sounds like RV cost Team Green a lot.
Does Robby Bell get the 1X no matter what next year if he comes up with a ride? Or does the number go to the manufacturer only?
D38 is huge where I live in SoCal. Many from there go on to SCORE, etc... Hundreds of kids & dads alike worship the SCORE title & pay very close attention to it. I personally wouldn't buy a bike based on a title. Honda however has advertised heavily on being champion of Baja.
I personally would buy another KTM 500 EXC. (Fomula one'ish) LOL! My 05 525EXC has been flawless. Plenty of power to move my fat ass anywhere in Baja, Superstition, Ocotillo wells, or even Glamis with a paddle. I really like Honda's too. I bought a CR500 new in '95 & rode it every desert season for 10 years.
Kawi pulling out sucks overall. Hate to see this kind of stuff happen to our sport.
What about you Will?
@Jeff,F-1ish -not your 500 but current 250MX 4 strokes,450's.
@Jeff,thanks for the memory flashback on the development of your 500.KTM's Tom Moen and Lance Smail where the last of the old school big displacement 4strokes before the Factory's went to smaller displacement higher rev'ing modern 4 strokes. Here in WA.,our annual Hall of Fame dinner is coming up,I'll nominate Lance.Minor trivia,Tom Moen was a co-worker back in the day and Lance was my best Honda CR support rider for a couple of years. Thanks for reminding me.
I believe the 1x plate belongs to the rider of record.
There are no wrong answers to any of my questions, I just wanted to get everybody thinking about the future of the sport.
But for me, how about more money on support for the smaller promoters and racers on the ground level where the customers dwell.
A flashy ad with the latest win won't sway me, I need bikes I can afford to maintain and ride.
I ride mostly trails and DS type stuff, but am planing on a track bike for GP's soon.
My biggest concern is that living here in So Cal, we are losing more and more riding areas. I wasn't itching for a political commentary, but in one month these questions could be decided for all of us.
