Robby Gordon talks about entering the 2013 Dakar Rally after one of his competitors makes a comment about him and his HUMMER

PETERHANSEL COMMENTING ON ROBBY GORDON ENTERING THE 2013 DAKAR RALLY:

“This is a cheater born, we are here to compete, not for show race, and this is not the circus, even if it pleased the audience.”
“We must fight on equal terms, Robby Gordon must comply with the rules. If this is the case, it is welcome. Otherwise. Not!”

PETERHANSEL IS NOT ONLY CALLING YOU A CHEATER BUT CALLING YOU A SHOWMAN RATHER THAN A RACER, HOW DO YOU RESPOND TO THAT?

RG: I take that personal, the fact he is calling me a cheater or my team a cheater. We explained our system last year to A.S.O. at initial technical inspection and we did not change anything from that day of initial tech on our car until the day they saw our car, saying it wasn't legal. With all that said what Peterhansel needs to understand is this is the entertainment business and it is not just about racecars. If it was just about racecars we would all be driving diesel powered Mini’s and they would sound like a bunch of sewing machines.

WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY ABOUT HIM TALKING ABOUT FIGHTING ON EQUAL TERMS?

RG: We are really excited to go to the Dakar, last year A.S.O. can say we were disqualified, but to be honest with you at the end of the day we finished 5th and it wasn’t worth fighting with them. So we'll accept whatever we have to accept, but in regards to Peterhansel and playing fair and square, we played by the rules A.S.O. told us we could play by last year and they came and inspected our cars for 2013 and we are ready for the challenge. Last year if you take out the stages I had to tow Al-Attiyah around we would have been easily ahead of Peterhansel at that point. This year our car is even better fine tuned, we’ve had more time to work on it. Even with the inflation disconnected last year, I want to remind Peterhansel that we beat him 10-15 minutes a day when we wanted to go. So he's going to have to tighten his seat belts and we are ready for the battle. There is STILL nothing Monster, about his Mini!

Real dessert racing require a ton of suspension travel
U.S. racers usually end up helping the Europeans by showing them how to get more travel before the races just so they don’t block the course when they get stuck

@mj wait they just dont count them guys are just plain CRAZY

Peterhansels comments made me so mad I just ordered 3 US vs. Them bumper stickers

Leonid Novitskiy to race the fourth MINI ALL4 Racing

Monster Energy X-raid line-up keeps on growing
The MINI ALL4 Racing vehicles once again will turn the desert into a colourful place

Leonid Novitskiy is going to race the Monster Energy X-raid Team’s fourth MINI ALL4 Racing, in the 2013 Dakar Rally. Together with his co-driver Konstantin Zhiltsov, the Russian represents the next addition to the line-up of the Trebur based team. The pairings Stéphane Peterhansel (FRA)/ Jean-Paul Cottret (FRA), Nani Roma (ESP)/ Michel Périn (FRA) and Krzysztof Holowczyc (POL)/ Filipe Palmeiro (POR) extended their deals with the team earlier.

In the 2012 Dakar, Novitskiy impressed by securing the fine fourth place. The 44-year old started into the event in great style by winning the first special stage and made it to the top 10 on every single day. Particularly in the dunes of Peru, he demonstrated his extraordinary skills. Here, many drivers were taken to their very limit but Novitskiy delivered by securing top-four positions in each of these special stages. Just a few months earlier, he won the FIA Cross Country Rally World Cup for the second consecutive time.

The four MINI ALL4 Racing vehicles once again will turn the desert into a colourful place: Peterhansel again will race a green MINI ALL4 Racing, with Roma and Novitskiy also contesting the Dakar in a similar livery as last year: yellow and orange respectively. Holowczyc, however, will race a white MINI ALL4 Racing, in the 2013 Dakar Rally.

“I’m really delighted that Leonid also is back in our line-up for the Dakar,” says Monster Energy X-raid Team Manager Sven Quandt. “He convinces in particular by his consistent style of driving. With his approach, he avoids getting involved in any difficulties and secures good results. A fact that was demonstrated by his two FIA World Cup titles and his fourth place in this year‘s Dakar.”

The 2013 Dakar will be started on 05th January, 2013, in Peru’s capital Lima. Following the day of rest in San Miguel, Argentina, the Dakar will be continued to be finished on 20th January in Chile’s capital, Santiago.

looks like a little annoying rodent. Hummer should run pest control sponsorship.

Those little Rodents did a number on the feild last year and at most of the FIA Cross Country Rallies this year..

It's a mini Monster Dakar takeover.

tog i think kevin wilson with his excelent artistic abilty he should hand deliver a large box of easter eggs to peckerhandle painted the same coulor as those disgusting mini,s maybe should paint cry baby on the cover,i'm sure where the french are involved the whining has just begun.
