STAGE 4: NAZCA > AREQUIPA

Connection 429km | Special Stage 288km | Total 707km

COURSE OVERVIEW

It was a painful experience for many competitors when they discovered the area last year. At the beginning of the special stage, the dunes follow one another, each one like the next, strung out in a never-ending desert capable of unsettling the best technical specialists. In the opposite direction, Stéphane Peterhansel and “Nani” Roma, both of whom are masters when it comes to crossing dunes, each lost almost fifteen minutes there, and risked missing out on the first two places of the overall standings. And the level of difficulty will be even more demanding this year! During the crucial stage of the first week, the rally will be even tougher for motorcyclists: they will quail on a 2-km slope, of which the gradient will put the descent of Iquique on a par with a gentle children’s slide.

at the finish line.. awsome.

Can they fuel now or not?

I think so... why not?

Thought I heard you gotta run the special on what ya got

This is the connection... I remember seeing pictures of RG stopping at a gas station before to fuel up.

Don't anyone say Robby or the Hummer ain't tougher than a $2.00 steak . THAT JUST PROVED IT !!!!

+1

Who would buy a $2.00 steak? But I'll give a +2 to those who've tried one!

You got that right mj

I'm guessing it'll be about 3 hours before they reach the bivouac. So sometime around 6/6:30pm central time or so

That sure makes for a long day. One has to be half off ones rocker to consider this race.

Awesome!! The beast lives to race and win stages. Great job RG & KW and the BOUCOU crew.
