STAGE 6 TRACKING

STAGE 6: ARICA > CALAMA

Connection 331km | Special Stage 454km | Total 785km

COURSE OVERVIEW

The first special stage held in Chile will take competitors back to the Atacama Desert: they will be faced with sand and dunes for two thirds of the distance. But two specific sections of the stage will be timed: the latter will allow them to rediscover fesh fesh, which is unlikely to enthuse them. Overall, the day will be very long, at a stage where the competitors’ bodies will start to suffer from the lack of sleep, particularly for those who have experienced some incidents. At the head of the race, a ranking which is already probable is taking shape: the real candidates for the Top 10 are apparent.

Go Kurt!!

I recommend everybody pop out the chat feature to its own window.

Johnny Campbell also in WP2 5:42 back, currently showing 28th.

The three injured R2R team members were transferred to a local hospital and later flown from Tacna by an Antonov aircraft to hospital in Lima where they are said to be ‘stable and conscious.” Their injuries were described as “non-life-threatening.” Their families have been informed of the accident by other team members.
“This is obviously a huge shock but we know that we have the blessing of the injured. They want the team to finish,” Tony said.
The accident is being investigated by the local police in Peru and the team is being supported by the race organisers.

Casteau and Pedrero are opening the road (close together) thru WP2 with Pain and Botturi together about a minute back...

Caselli is leading on corrected time by virtue of his 20th start pos. he has come up on the leaders (timewise), but is stilly physically back in 18th position on the road.

Good tip on the pop out on chat, I will give it a try.
