STAGE 6 TRACKING

STAGE 6: ARICA > CALAMA

Connection 331km | Special Stage 454km | Total 785km

COURSE OVERVIEW

The first special stage held in Chile will take competitors back to the Atacama Desert: they will be faced with sand and dunes for two thirds of the distance. But two specific sections of the stage will be timed: the latter will allow them to rediscover fesh fesh, which is unlikely to enthuse them. Overall, the day will be very long, at a stage where the competitors’ bodies will start to suffer from the lack of sleep, particularly for those who have experienced some incidents. At the head of the race, a ranking which is already probable is taking shape: the real candidates for the Top 10 are apparent.

What's the weather going to be like over the Mountain?

oh well, what was I going to do, sleep?
I'm so stoked after today's stage I can't wait.

So is that like 3200 Meters or 10,500 feet on this stage @ km 430?

Looks like 10,500 feet to me - isn't that cruising altitude for commercial flights? Hope RG packed the winter firesuit.

I think commercial flights are around 32-35k '. Small planes w/no pressure fly about 10-12k.I know that a small plane can't fly over Mnt Washington! Same goes for helicopter (that's why no rescues by helicopters).

Climb most of the way after the tarmac. At least its gradual with a downwards slope at the end. Plus its not dunes.. sounds fun!

So its 1230 AM the DAKAR is on the guide and some F'n mondaynight football shit is on US vs Canada junior hockey game 4 AM replay at 530 pm NHL network scrolls result under it..............is it me or is there a huge chunk of things being taken care of by care-not think-not dumbasses running things..............oh there it goes missed the bikes, Great stage lets push forward Gas On and Bless you those that "do things" (ywa Im feeling the sword)
