Defending champion Yazeed Al-Rajhi tops the provisional 35-car entry for this week’s "Ha’il International Rally", the Kingdom’s flagship FIA-sanctioned cross-country rally, which will run for nearly 1000 competitive kilometres through the north-central region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from March 24th-28th.
Al-Rajhi, who travels to the event straight from competing in the Kuwait International Rally, has taken charge of a powerful Hummer from Robby Gordon’s team in the United States of America and teams up with the experienced Portuguese co-driver Filipe Palmeiro, as he attempts to win the event for the fourth time in five years.
“The car reached Saudi last week and we have been making our final preparations since then," enthused Al-Rajhi. "I am in Kuwait now for the round of the Middle East Rally Championship, but I am looking forward to trying to win my home event again, especially now the rally has a longer and different format."

Day 3: Al-Rajhi edges further clear of Zapletal after two stages
Saudi Arabia’s Yazeed Al-Rajhi extended his advantage in the Ha’il International Rally from 22:18 minutes to 51:28 mins after setting the fastest time in the second 258 km selective section through Saudi Arabia’s expansive An Nafud desert on Tuesday.
Al-Rajhi and French co-driver Alex Winocq were never troubled in their powerful Hummer on the diverse special stage and controlled the outcome from the front to edge further clear of Czech driver Miroslav Zapletal and his Polish co-driver Maciej Marton in the second Hummer with a time of 3hrs 40:46 mins.
“It was another good stage for me today,” said Al-Rajhi. “The car was working well and we have a good lead now to take into the longest stage of the event on Wednesday.” It was later discovered that there is a problem with an engine cylinder and Yazeed’s mechanics were working on the Hummer at the service back in Ha’il after the stage, although the team is confident that the Saudi will be able to continue.
What link? Is that a hint to name my source? No source. I just make it up.
Maybe Yazeed will drive the 2014 Dakar as a team-mate to RG........
I thought Justin Lofton called dibs already. Yazeed has his own team and equipment.
Get a load of the titles these guys have -
The event is being staged under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Saud Bin Abdul Mohsen Bin Abdul Aziz, Governor of Ha’il, President of the Supreme Commission for Ha’il Development and the Head of the Supreme Commission of the Ha’il Rally.
