Defending champion Yazeed Al-Rajhi tops the provisional 35-car entry for this week’s "Ha’il International Rally", the Kingdom’s flagship FIA-sanctioned cross-country rally, which will run for nearly 1000 competitive kilometres through the north-central region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from March 24th-28th.
Al-Rajhi, who travels to the event straight from competing in the Kuwait International Rally, has taken charge of a powerful Hummer from Robby Gordon’s team in the United States of America and teams up with the experienced Portuguese co-driver Filipe Palmeiro, as he attempts to win the event for the fourth time in five years.
“The car reached Saudi last week and we have been making our final preparations since then," enthused Al-Rajhi. "I am in Kuwait now for the round of the Middle East Rally Championship, but I am looking forward to trying to win my home event again, especially now the rally has a longer and different format."

Sounds like Yazeed crashed the Hummer in the dunes on the final stage. DNF. Yazeed and navigator air-lifted for back pains.
NO WAY!!! The little vids I saw showed he's fearless!!
Yazeed and Winocq crash out. The crashed heavily in the sand dune 50 kms into the stage. The Hummer landed on all four wheels with a hard impact and moved a few meters before stopping. Via his Twitter account in King Khalid Hospital Ha’il, Al-Rajhi declared that both he and his co-driver, Frenchman Alex Winocq, had each suffered one broken vertebrae following the impact.
Hope everyone is OK, but didn't they have a huge lead like 1 1/2 hours?
matt
Ouch.....that must have been quite a landing if each suffered a broken vertebrae while landing on the wheels in the Hummer...
Yah, WTF.. I can't imagine what it would have taken for such a hard landing on all 4 wheels. I mean we're talking Big Time Suspension. Was it dropped 5 stories from a helicopter? I bet Robby is scratching his head.
I don't get going "all out" like they did. Bummer for them. Speedy recovery.
If he wanted to find the limits of the Hummer, I think he found it.
He found the limits of the human spine.....not the Hummmer. Hummer looks OK.
Hang in there Yaz.....you were jammin'. Rest up and get well soon!
when it lands on 4 it hurts pretty bad,. it's not the same when it lands front or rear first, have experienced that,.i hate when my truck lands on 4 at the same time, for this to happen, doesn't have to be a huge drop,. not even speed comes into play,. 2 to 3 mts with the weight of the hummer,. but well, i'm not an expert, just saying,.
I posted a aftermath photo. Obviously Yazeed and Alex clearly hurt. The Hummer "looks" okay. I wonder if they didn't "g-out" (a la Nasser) or a nose first somersault and landed right side up. Either would definitely cause a hell of an amount of stress on your spine.
