Testing at Pikes Peak: Kenny Wallace and the #28 U.S. Border Patrol/Jay Robinson Racing Chevy tested at Pikes Peak International Raceway on Monday, #7-Robby Gordon and team are scheduled to test at the track on Wednesday Nov. 5 in preparation for Phoenix. No word if testing is open to the public.(PPIR)(11-4-2008)

*track has been in the news recently, not recalling exact info, sold? got a series contract?*

adding:
Pikes Peak to reopen: PPIR has a new owner with plans to resume racing at the 1.5 mile track [actually 1 mile oval, and 1.3 mile road course]. Arden Weatherford, the new owner is saying little. But the group planning to hold a race at the facility Labor Day weekend says the grounds and ashpalt are in good shape. Members of the National Auto Sport Association [NASA] plan to hold road races and offer high performance driving during the three day weekend. Their regional director walked the grounds on Monday. Dave Balingit says the new owner has a great deal of experience as a racing promoter and track manager and believes the new venture will be successful. PPIR closed in November of 2005.(koaa.com)(7-25-2008)

A group from Greenville, SC bought PPIR from ISC in July for $9 million. The track hosted a few Nat'l Auto Sport Assoc. events and a couple of motorcycle races on infield road course. The oval needs to be repaved; turn two has a real bad bump and dip in the center, but overall the place is in pretty good shape.

PPIR is a easy 90 minute drive from my home. I planned on going down to watch RG test but tomorrow's weather isn't looking to good; rainy and cold.
I agree on the condition of the track. I've put in a few laps on that track years ago. If I remember correctly the bump in two was after the middle out I think.
Hurray for Pikes Peak finding a new life. I went to the last "then Busch" race there & several truck series races also. Like "The Rock", Piles Peak was unique because it was so flat & had it's own character. There seems to be hope for The Rock because of Andy Hillenburg. I hope the same holds true for Pikes Peak.
PPIR is on its way to becoming the next Texas World Speedway... As part of the sale agreement from ISC, they cannot sell more than 5,000 tickets for any sanctioned events, or 10,000 tickets for unsanctioned events. That means no NASCAR, no Indycar, no major series at alI. That pretty much turns the track into an excellent track for sports car clubs and smaller racing series that would make use of the infield road course. With that in mind, I doubt that the oval will get repaved any time soon...

But, for the time being.... I'm just happy to see RGM testing!
I talked to Robby today at SEMA and he said they were going to be testing at Irwindale speedway I think he said wednesday Im not sure why he told me this if he is supposed to be at Pikes? I asked about Ickler and he said Icklers team took one of Robbys cars and rebiult it he said they tested at Kansas and it had to much down force so they thought it would be good at Pheonix. He also said he his cup crew would be pitting the car. I asked about Baja and he said he was running the trophy truck and that him and BJ will be running the two hummers in the Dakar Rally.
WOW....... info with a named source.. that's rare for this site.
Thanks Mike.
Yea, seriously. I laugh at all the so called "experts" on here that talk out of their butt. Good info, interesting that Icklers team rebuild an RGM car and RGM is still going to pit it.
You left out LeMans.
Driving for Peugeot or Audi?
Me and Robby at SEMA yesterday. Ya think he would lie to me about where he was testing?

He looks so excited ;)
I never doubted you, just others on this site that start "news" threads reporting supposed truths...
