yea not a fan of the trucks on the streets thats lame might as well be a car no need for a truck.trucks are used for the ground clearance and suspension which is needed in a non paved road with ruts. the bouncing and banging and flying is what makes it awesome. if you took a line of trophy trucks to long beach nurembergring or Daytona it would not be cool. high horspower trucks fighting to make turns they were never designed to take. not so fun
I agree it will stand on it's own too, BUT, the reason I'm on this sight was because I'm a NASACR fan. I had never heard of Dakar. Off road here's a Hummer or Jeep with a push bar on the front and some lights. If you ask the owner why the have it they'll say because it looks cool! So, I guess my point is it's being re-introduced to some, and introduced to others. I think for now, teaming up with other motor sports is logical and a great way to expand! Just my fity cent!
absolutely.. came here from NASCAR too and now Dakar is the thing I look forward to every January. I'm actually planning on going to it one year relatively soon (RG will be racing it in 2020, right??)
SST is awesome too and I'm sure I'll become as big a fan of it as I am of the Dakar, in due time.
Teaming up with other motorsports just makes sense, and this includes different venues. Exposure exposure exposure! If you get 1000 people coming "just" to watch supermoto, or the karts or whatever, they're going to see SST and you'll get 950 of them going to another SST race in the future. That can only be a good thing.
If we can't get a stadium race in the northeast, How about a expo like Long Beach when and if they ever run the F1 race in NJ.
Should for sure hit Argentina and Chile... Central Europe... Dubai...
Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, TN...with a big Power "T" on the truck...and a pre-race party at Calhoun's on the river!
I like the idea. Big college stadiums, during football season during the school's bye week.
Salt Lake City would be a good idea, it has a pretty solid audience to outdoors and off road racing would be a good fit as it does well with the bikes... Rice-Eccles Stadium would be cool.
If they bring the SST to Tijuana, Mexico I am 100% it will sell out, there are some freestyle and monster truck venues that charge $30-$80 and people go out of there way to assist. I went to the May 18th SST event and believe me there is no thing like SST. Please consider MX.
