With the 2014 Dakar Rally beginning in less than 45 days, here is a brief F.A.Q.

  1. Is Robby Gordon racing in the 2014 Dakar Rally? YES!
  2. What is the car number? 305
  3. What is he driving? A new design - called the HST
  4. Who is the navigator? Kellon Walch
  5. Is there going to be a 2nd car? No
  6. How come we haven't seen pictures of the car yet? It's still being built
  7. When will we see the car? Mid December
  8. Will the race be televised? Yes. NBC Sports Network TAPE DELAY recap show.
  9. How can we follow the rally? You're already at the right place.
  10. When does the rally begin? Stage 1 begins on Jan 5th.

No, I think that Goodyear has a contract with Sumitomo to make and market Goodyear tires in Japan is all.

I like the idea of a truck, i believe that he will have greater visibility out of over the Hummer, the Hummer seemed hard to see over the nose. plus the weight balance should be better

At this point I understand that RG rig will be a truck, front engine, rear wheel drive (2wd), and with better handling for all type of stages, with more manoeuvrability not only for the hi-speed or sand ones, Toyo or Goodyear tires, and maybe some less suspension travel due to the Dakar rules, but anyone knows if Robby has any image contract with the Hummer brand for the body to accomodate all this new specs?

@javier Robby wil be running TOYO tires, and as for less suspension the new Dakar rig (2WD) can have as much as it did last year(2wd) but ultimately it will depend on the suspension Robby chooses to use( his own RGMX, Fox etc.). image contract with Hummer I doubt it being its a defunked brand.

Or King Shocks.Who knows as we've only seen the mule.It is possible that Robby will stay on King's.I've seen a lot of pictures of other teams using King's.Maybe King will send staff down to SA to provide support. And the SST's are on King's.

I know Hummer Brand was almost picked up by a Japanese Company that wanted to return the Vehicle to its roots of being an off road vehicle but, the deal fell through. So who owns the brand, does GM still own it?

It was a Chinese firm, actually, but pretty much as you say. Hummer as a company/division/corporate-entity is done and gone. I suppose GM still holds any ownership of Trademarks and copyrighted materials, but that's probably just a legal technicality, preventing someone from cheap profits off of the name with no foundation. I'd guess Robby is grandfathered into any use of the brand, but would probably have to stop if GM put up a stink (not that there's any reason they would).

Thanks for your reply Xracer, I know that Hummer is a defunked brand (I'm H3 owner) but having Robby on the Dakar all these previous years with the Orange (or Black) monster made the competition much more interesting than it was. We must remember that the Dakar is a french race, with french rules, made for french people, and french friends and is FANTASTIC to have someone like RG in the middle of the french revolution, with USA Flags and brands like Hummer. There has been several changes on the decissions of the dakar judges just to keep the french racers on the top of the qualy... We want to see him on P1

Stinky + complainers = Frenchman. Told X-Raid and BMW they should look for drivers that don't whine so much. Sickening. Kinda tough though when they (French) run the show. Win it and walk away with the middle finger in the air. I know not smart for business but you can only be slapped in the face so many times before you look silly for taking it. Im sure less folks would watch the rally with out American Robby Gordon.
