STAGE 1 TRACKING
STAGE 1: ROSARIO > SAN LUIS
Connection 629km | Special Stage 180km | Total 809km
COURSE OVERVIEW
The competitors will wake up early to set off along the road in the region of Cordoba and start the race on some narrow tracks which will require the utmost vigilance. Each one will still be very fresh allowing them to tackle the stony sections or the blind jumps serenely. The competitors’ driving skills will be rewarded at the finish, where they will have already clocked up 800 kilometres. Although the gaps will not be significant at this stage of the race, it is nevertheless important to maintain their position in the part of the standings that they are aiming for!
The GREEN section of the route is the connection , the RED is the Special Section of the stage.

MMR, you make Gluce's point for him none of us has knowledge of the build schedule the amount of testing etc. How do you make the comment that something is inexcusable with out any facts to support the statement. Also about the rear hatch you're stating as fact something that was just speculation in an observation of a photograph. That is what brings out the criticism.
Ever the expert.
22:43 Cars: Gordon crosses the line
The American crossed the finish line a few minutes ago, conceding 2 h 08'06' to today's winner, Portugal's Carlos Sousa (Haval). The man at the wheel of the no. 305 Hummer had string of mishaps after starting the special behind schedule. Most strikingly, his prototype lost its rear hood, which had to be retrieved by one of the organisers' cars.
R.G.: “You will soon realize how good we are. I have a new project for this Dakar. I was supposed to race one of the Hummers I sold to Yazid Al Rajhi (Saudi Arabian driver who bought Gordon's two Hummers). But he is injured and has decided to stop his Dakar project. This put me in a delicate situation with quite a bit of pressure. So, I began building a new car for the Dakar. I drove the car for the first time in November. It runs good; it is stable and very fast. We have done over 1,500kms of testing. The parts we have used are similar to those we have used in the past, so it should be okay. Beyond that, this car is completely different. It sits lower than a Mini. It is lighter and smaller…And we will also have air-conditioning, which is a real comfort. We should be in a position to win. In any case, I am coming to win. I have no worries. At the end of the day, our business is to build race cars.”
So Ive been gone, i log on to my Computer to read this Crap, what luck, Ho;y CRap, pull together please
Definitely owe the #390 many cases of SPEED.

If in fact it is a vapor lock situation. There are several causes....Altitude, ambient temp fluctuations, fuel line material, fuel with etoh in the fuel OR a small air leak. Fuel has a vapor pressure of 10lbs at 60 DEGREES so if you have a total of at least 10lbs to keep fuel in the liquid stage. which means you add in the lift factor from the fuel cell to the injectors, regulator or secondary pump into the formula. Roughly atmo pressure is 14.7 at sea level..So in tank pump pressure must be at least 5lbs, then add for the lift to the second high pressure FI pump. . Now go up in altitude and ambient temp and it changes the pressure requirement
.
If any one on planetrobby can get a message to the team.... If it happens again in later stages...Wrap the fuel lines in rags, wipes or what ever they have to absorb water. Zip ty or duct tape in place and it will give you about 20min to 40 min of run time before you need to re wet everything. They might already know this trick....just trying to help...I have actually done this with excellent results
We used damp tree limbs before to draw vapor away
This sounds like a far more elemental problem than just vapor lock. "We had vapour lock problems and we had to stop. Then, all the other fluids started to overheat, so we had to stop at least five or six times...". The vapor lock is likely only a symptom of an overall cooling problem, if all other fluids were overheating as well. This would include engine coolant, as well as engine, transmission and differential lubricants. Position of various radiators and coolers in relation to fuel lines, as well as a hot engine would all contribute to the vapor lock. With luck the underlying cooling problem can be remedied.
you know it could have been alot worse,if you are going to have problems this is the time to do it,now you have the rest of the rally to make up time, and everyone at some point will have difficulties, may be a blessing in disguise,Robby will have to drive all out now,gas on! so here is to a great day tomorrow and start gaining time good luck Robby do not get down you will be the first american to win the rally
