Join in and discuss all the action from Stage 3 of the 2014 Dakar Rally. Robby Gordon had more vapor lock issues during stage 2, and now finds himself over 3h45m behind. The cars are scheduled to begin the 433km special section at 9:00am/et, Robby Gordon will be the 30th car off the line, beginning his stage at 9:52am/et.

COURSE OVERVIEW

The competitors of the 2014 Dakar will experience their first taste of the mountains by passing through the Pre-Andes. The Aconcagua Volcano stands 6,962m high and will observe the progress of the vehicles, of which a part will rehearse their high mountain driving techniques. The motorcyclists will climb up 4,300 metres during their special stage, on a ridgeline where they will have the impression of towering over the whole of America! The descent will bring them back to the tough reality of the drivers of the Dakar, as they will only have finished the first part of this marathon stage. They will have to ensure the mechanics for their own vehicles at the isolated bivouac which has been set up for them.


The GREEN section of the route is the connection , the RED is the Special Section of the stage.

Good Idea for next year, Unfortunately it was not ready in the summer.

coral pink is 5000' I think and about 80 in the summer death valley 125 in the summer but its below sea level

It'll just be the bikes they'll show, as cars are nowhere near finishing yet, so not sure how interesting it'll be.

they were showing the bikes yesterday when they disclosed the info on RG thumbing for a tow. it is what it is.

I'm getting nada on this site right now - anyone have a live feed?

Can someone enplane how you can get vapor lock at the fuel rail when the fuel is under pressure there.

I can see vapor lock happening with an in line fuel pump on the suction side or an in tank fuel pump cavitation problem but not a vapor lock on the pressure side.

I'm sure certain harmonics and vibration can cause fuel to cavitate as well and can be exaggerated with a fuel cell that has a restriction in the ventilation system.

I'm just not buying this overheating and it's making it vapor lock thing, the fuel pressure problem making it rum lean witch will make it run hot I can see.

just a thought.

we beat this dead horse at the end of yesterdays thread,start about 15pages from the end.
since there's no scoring to watch,it should give you time to read thru peoples thoughts.
