COURSE OVERVIEW
The competitors of the 2014 Dakar will experience their first taste of the mountains by passing through the Pre-Andes. The Aconcagua Volcano stands 6,962m high and will observe the progress of the vehicles, of which a part will rehearse their high mountain driving techniques. The motorcyclists will climb up 4,300 metres during their special stage, on a ridgeline where they will have the impression of towering over the whole of America! The descent will bring them back to the tough reality of the drivers of the Dakar, as they will only have finished the first part of this marathon stage. They will have to ensure the mechanics for their own vehicles at the isolated bivouac which has been set up for them.
The GREEN section of the route is the connection , the RED is the Special Section of the stage.

Roger Roger. Thank you.
Robby is off to a very similar start from the Rally last year. Tomorrow is a crucial stage for a top 5. I won't say what happen during Stage 4 last year but if he can finish and finish well momentum will be on his side.

Hajas shows not starting, bummer for those guys!
It certainly is a new rally ....for some nothing new ....for some we always knew.....hearing the crying, nothing new...did anybody open my Doris Day link?..............
No but was it que sera sera?
I thought I read a post by Darren Skilton,Hajas slept on the course last night.
Just watched the US version of stage 2, unless they were showing clips from day 1(which they did do but in a different part of the segment), it looks like they did have the rear cover on to start the race as it showed them trying to work under it and there was no mention of being towed in. The video that was said to have been from yesterday was actually from day 1.
