STAGE 3 TRACKING

STAGE 3: SAN RAFAEL > SAN JUAN

Connection 295km | Special Stage 301km | Total 596km

COURSE OVERVIEW

The competitors of the 2014 Dakar will experience their first taste of the mountains by passing through the Pre-Andes. The Aconcagua Volcano stands 6,962m high and will observe the progress of the vehicles, of which a part will rehearse their high mountain driving techniques. The motorcyclists will climb up 4,300 metres during their special stage, on a ridgeline where they will have the impression of towering over the whole of America! The descent will bring them back to the tough reality of the drivers of the Dakar, as they will only have finished the first part of this marathon stage. They will have to ensure the mechanics for their own vehicles at the isolated bivouac which has been set up for them.

The GREEN section of the route is the connection , the RED is the Special Section of the stage.

Now we can race,,,, it must have been the fuel rails.

RG said the fuel must have more ethanol in it this year - lower boiling point.

where did you hear that, it was my impression from an interview last night that they were going back to the fuel rail system that they run on the old Hummer. He sounded pretty sure that would fix the problem and the results seem to confirm that.

WILL posted a video from after todays stage......its on the main page......somewhere this site has so many doors you just need to look....I mean look at this site........It's got everything but a corner for the hooke.....

But whatever the problem was it appears fixed, and we now can RACE.

He said it in 1 of the video's posted today

132, 57, 41, ? Go Robby!

Really pumped about the solid run today! Only building from here :) Great job Speed Team.

Super good run especially with all the cars he had to pass

from MarathonRally.com:
Despite beginning the stage as the 28 of 121 cars, thus having to drive through fellow competitor’s dust and significant traffic, Gordon passed more than 20 cars during his more than three-hour and five-minute race. In doing so he shaved more than 21 minutes off of Frenchman Stephane Peterhansel’s overall leading time.

Reliability has played a huge role in the outcomes so far, as well it should. Having said that, it will be interesting to see how things shake out if they manage to have a stage where no one has major problems.

How did BJ gain like 2 hrs in overall time?
