Wow, the gal who wrote this article is 75 years old ! Just goes to show that once a fan, always a fan. :-)
Great article and good find Michael. Tweeted it out on my racing account for all the NASCRAP fans.
I saw that today, oddly enough I had not been on the article section of Jayski for quite some time...odd timing
that is a well written article IMO, Let Ms. Lilly know if you liked it also
Wow. That's awesome. What a neat lady. Great article too.
I have been a Robby fan as far as I can remember it goes back to MT days and off road. I knew he drove in other series but didn't really follow that close. In recent years I have found out about Robby's other racing accomplishments. I liked his style "let it all hang out" and a "my way" kind of attitude. Just as Kay said Robby is very misunderstood. Most of my younger friends always say why do you like him he always crashes, he's to impatient he over drives the car. I have met Robby many times and he always has time for a chat. To name a few.....Phoenix in his compound the KOH and Glenn Helen. Most of my racing friends don't follow Dakar they only find out about the race thru me and emails I send to them. So they were excited to follow Robby this year. So as the race unfolded he had issues in the first 2 stages and of course they said SEE always braking of course I tell them it's RACING. Just like my fair weather friends most fans don't see the dedicated never sit still Robby Gordon.
When you look at The Dakar since Robby has entered, he has changed the thinking on the racing platform that drivers are going to. This year will be a learning curve with the new car but you can bet Robby Gordon will be the first AMERICAN to win the Dakar.............GOD SPEED ROBBY
PS.....I will pass this artical on to my narrow minded friends.
