2014 Dakar Rally Stage 11: Antofagasta to El Salvador
El Salvador, Chile (January 16, 2014) –
Robby Gordon and the SPEED Energy/Toyo Tires Gordini began Thursday’s 11th stage of the 2014 Dakar Rally with the same tenacity and determination that they start any race. The day’s goal was to capture the team’s first stage victory of Gordon’s 10th attempt at Dakar glory.
Just 18 kilometers into the stage, however, Gordon and navigator Kellon Walch noticed a severe fuel contamination issue and returned to Antofagasta, Chile where the stage began. Once there, the team went to work for more than 10 hours to diagnose and repair the damage the fuel created.
Gordon did not return to the race during Thursday’s stage, and as of late Thursday night the entire team was traveling toward El Salvador where they hope to return to competition Friday. Given their remote location and the late hour, despite its ability to return to the race, it remains to be seen if the sanctioning body A.S.O. will permit the Gordini to complete the final two stages of the Rally.
Further updates on Gordon’s status in the race will be released Friday morning.
ooopps............Hey It is what it is and there you go.......nothing gets some folks more pissed off than saying "It is what it is". Some call folks spoiled sports....spoiled sports...Now there is a line from a childhood gone but not forgotten, all the same there is one thing that rings true and I'm not going top bother repeating myself ....My best friend told me once "You say something once ...why say it again"...I said it at the end of the rest day thread...dought anybody wentr back and read it as we all clam....most folks clammered for the next big thing and not what was in the past.......but hey . I heard one thing I like one thing I like very much and that was that there was problems that were going to get fixed for next time....for next time...Shit man it was not what it was thought to be but ....next time.....
Yes, but we are all still here. (All the forum members) Where we at right now ?This is "Marketing" a good thing. "Testing" a good thing
Watch all the daily recaps in a row. You can see the transition.
The weird thing is the starting grid (DF) on the Dakar site for stage 12 shows Robby starting 52nd. That would be at 9:00 EST. Stay tuned :)
There was talk of the Great Wall truck being to restart with a penalty after day 1, but his motor was shot. So there is probably something buried in the rules.
Hmmmmmmmm
Hmmm is right. No explaination no verification just a name on a starting grid. Might be gone by tomorrow. Fingers crossed. See you in the morning.
From the rules and regs "Prepare your Rally"
Fuel
For motorbikes, fuel in special is included in the vehicle fee (not on road section and bivouacs). In special stages, A.S.O. will provide a 95-octane Super unleaded gasoline.
For cars and trucks, A.S.O. will provide fuel only when there are no petrol stations in the bivouacs surroundings. This service will be recharged and you should do the fuel order towards the Competitor’s Department.
Local petrol stations will be indicated in the road book. A description of the stages and their distances in kilometers will be mailed out in October so that you can prepare your refuelling plan.

Outward and back journeys for you and your teammates
E85 105octane,. RVP 4.4 (no vapor lock) $2.50 a gallon Cedar Rapids and 3.09 a gallon in Hemet.
gasoline is a filthy fuel that can be contaminated or not refined properly in any number of ways. Especially once you leave the U.S or territories Alcohol on the other hand is pure and clean makes more power and torque.
Down side is you have to carry 20% more fuel.
I will volunteer to drive the fuel truck next year they just have to cover expenses.
GM has most of there cars capable of running e85 but the LS motors are not designed for that
Corvette racing runs e85 and less power LS3 should.
