It's a hell of a long way from what it was. That is their mistake. And the sad part, is that they don't even realize it.

Sorry, but this, to me, was the cats ass!

Dave,
That was awesome, great moment. Until I believe the gear gave out, I just recall it smoking. They were a heck of a tandem

That race had it ....................

their were some good moments in nascar but lets face it the sport is dieing even more now with the death of speedchannel the realy need to come up with new veneiws or promos to make it work did you guy see the stands at some of the tracks last year empty.

I took some pictures of them removing grandstands at California Speedway a couple of weeks ago. I don't assume they are doing that at every track, but I'm sure Ca is not the only one.

They removed some in Texas years ago. Now you see a lot of grandstands used for ad banners

Lets face it as long as theres a board of directors thats not named France the slide will continue . Whats needed is a governing body that will return to the race as the spectacle and not the contrived show they put on to showcase the eletist drivers and teams that bring in the most money. Look what we got in DC from the most money.

WWE Wrestling board of directors - all from the McMahon Family
NASCRAP board of directors - all from the France family

WWE - scripted and predetermined
NASCRAP - well you all figure it out .

I can appreciate the passion someone may have for a certain genre of racing over another. Robby's DNA is off-road racing. The lineage goes back to his great-grandfather, Huntley Gordon, who began racing in 1914. On dirt. His father Bob Gordon, didn't get the nickname "Baja Bob" without reason just as Robby did not become the face of American off-road racing because no one else was available. Soon we'll have the next generation Gordon racing and you can bet it will be on dirt. No amount of NASCAR-tainted pavement transfusions will change the Gordon DNA. Respect that.

Dale Earnhardt's passion was stock car racing and its Holy Grail, the Daytona 500. It took Dale 20 attempts, but he finally won it. Robby's passion is off-road racing and its Holy Grail, the Dakar Rally. And like Dale, it may take Robby 20 attempts, but he will win the Dakar Rally. Robby's passion has grit under its fingernails. If you are passionate about it, pursue it, no matter what anyone else thinks. That’s how dreams are achieved. If you cannot put your heart in it, take yourself out of it.

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
