I've been on the Casey sucks wagon for years because he does. Nobody has had more top rides in top teams and done nothing to show for it. Gieco seems to see some value in him though.
And pretty much everyone behind him does suck in terms of success in nascar.
My first thought also when I saw WJM's post. Women have played a big role in drag racing for a long time, M/C's, cars, dragsters. Nascar would love to have a fraction of nhra's genuine diversity.
If Nascrap really wanted diversity, they would have it. They're just going through the motions to keep the heat off...
Wow did that keep the thread going or what ?? Danicrash has responded read the "transcript" on Jayski and..........sorry folks. She said nothing but stale canned answers ...I'd rather talk about Jennifer Jones than ........Statistics don't lie WJM is right in reguard to those mentioned however the main fact is simply that The Southern Brotherhood for Staged Racing Events fell head over heels in love the marketing of a woman. Leilani Munter although better looking and far better educated was leaning on the fenders of enviromental activism while deeking in and out of all sorts of motorized racers and fell by the wayside by means of elimination in the grand fashion of greener pastures (Danicrash Patrick) and luring her to the cages. Waving more than a dollar on the end of a fishing rod .........I don't have the wind for this. It's such a bore..........sorta. But it's the only game in town unless you want to say in a stock car Miss Long has way more talent just no way to prove it ...at this time I've no information saying she has a ride?
I like the idea that IROC had. Put the drivers in identical cars and see who is the best. Yo can't compare chefs if they are not cooking with the same groceries in my opinion!!! RG finished 2nd in points twice to Mark Martin and that was before he was Cup racing.
Pretty sure that Robby's success in IROC is what landed him a ride with Felix Sabatas #40 Coors Light car. Apart from off-road racing as an owner/driver he has 2 wins, one official and one non-official. As a driver, he does a whole lot better with another team than his own.
Heck, go back to 1999 when Robby tried to qualify his own car at Indy and failed but then got a ride for John Menard, qualified 4th and finished 4th. Bottom line, he can drive, he just needs the right equiptment and opportunitiy. Unfortunately, NASCAR is about the "up and coming" drivers that are marketable. 45 year old, white males are not going to attract any sponsors except for Cialis. Anyone have a friend at Eli Lilly? If you have a sponsor, you can get a ride in NASCAR, it's as simple as that. Personally, I think Robby's days in NASCAR are done. I wish I was wrong but it sure looks that way.
I think Robby running full time is done. I think Robby running for another team or a one race deal are still options. Robby even said himself that if the right opportunity came along he would. You never know what situations a team can be in and that can present opportunities. I would love to see Robby run a the two road courses. The SST schedule and other events had conflicting dates last year, but not this year. If memory serves me correct, Robby still owes Logano a punting. The SST schedule is very open for the two road courses. RGM could easily build and test a primary and back up car. New qualifying rules would benefit RG at the roadies too.
I think the X-Games adding the SST race is huge exposure. It's time for SPEED to start expanding it's athletes. That's how Monster and Red Bull built a following. AMP tried to stick with Dale Jr as their primary athlete and failed. Even if it's just small sponsorship like Lofton, SPEED needs to slowly build a fan base. Monster and Red Bull proved that's the way to maximize exposure.
