COURSE OVERVIEW
For this farewell session to the Atacama Desert, all the competitors will come together once again for the special stage, with fifty-odd kilometres over sand and dunes. They should revel in these sensations because the next stage will put both drivers and their teams into much less comfortable positions. The routes have suff ered the rages of time and will be equally harsh on them: frequent potholes and bumps combined with the narrowness of the tracks will expose their vehicles’ bodywork to scratches.
The GREEN section of the route is the connection , the RED is the Special Section of the stage.

Following this race is such a joke---hard to imagine we are in the 21st century
As much as I feel you pain, I love it - and it truly shows how remote these places are that these guys get to blast through!
Robby dropped to 9th and still between WP 8 and 9.
Nasser was 8 seconds behind Roma before the WP problems, and is now shown as 2nd at the finish, 6 mins behind, so it seems that everyone except Roma had serious problems finding WP9. Many others are shown as loosing 20 mins or more, at WP10, apparently as a result of trying to find WP9, and then never finding it. Will Dakar give 1 hr penalties to all the top drivers who missed this WP? This would knock many big names out of contention if they do.
Stage 9 UPDATE at KM380 of 450
1) Roma
2) Al-Attiyah +5m29s
3) Vasilyev +13m34s
4) De Villiers +21m54s
5) Alrajhi +21m54s
8) GORDON +34m17s
dammit just got booted from chat !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
RG should have finished by now, he was 5min. Behind terranova on wp11
The 32nd and 33rd place cars are the only other cars which are currently shown as having successfully found WP9, aside from Roma and Yazeed up front. Peterhansel has apparently broken down and has not moved for almost 2 hours now.
Bikes don't even list a WP9 and only one quad is listed at WP9
