If he posted about 2008 not ending fast enough, then yes his post offers insite. But the Miller comment and the sarcastic Dakar comment do nothing but try to stir up other posters on this board, period. Hence why I questioned the purpose

Really? You mean another insider coming onboard and proclaiming purely insane garbage shouldn't be called out at some point?

Its okay for you to call me on my sarcasm. I'm a big boy and can handle it.

If people can't handle my sarcasm, they should quit proclaiming victories before they happen for RG (being positive is great, being absurd and stupid is another thing all together) and quit proclaiming instant failures for everyone else.

Mark Miller is a good driver and VW/Red Bull have a top rate program. Nothing in motorsports is a given. And some people here want to act like things such a Dakar stage victory, any SCORE event, and the Cup road courses are 'gimmies' for RG. Obvsiously, they're not. And it doesn't make someone a better fan to run with these absurd notions. It makes them look foolish and naive. Is RG talented? Duh fuck, yes. But there are a lot of talented drivers in motorsports, and a lot of quality racing programs. Acknowleding and respecting that is a first step for people here to accept just where RGs programs actually stand right now, and give some realistic perspective going into race weekends on what would constitute a good/bad finish. No wonder some people here get SO down after the failures at the road courses, if you pay attention to what they really post, they think that those are the only two events in Cup that RG is even capable of being competative at (I don't, I think there are ovals he has just as realistic chance as the road courses) and they also think that they're basically assured a top three just by showing up, which is flat out stupid. A lot of people have the same ideas going into Baja. That its Robby's race to lose. Thats silly. Of course he should be a favorite, but come on....the Baja field is not void of talent.

2008, sucked for RG fans. In every way a season could suck. It started the day the Dakar was cancelled and it ends with a roll at the Baja and a cancelled CORR event. And some of it, was self-destruction by RG, RGM, RG Off Road, etc. 2005 had excuses, a brand new Cup operation, fighting the uphill battle of the top 35 rule, etc. 2008 was just flat abysmal.

And really, John pointing out the people that claim to be in the know is funny, but when I did it (and yeah, mine was pretty much directed at one person who claims to be in the know) was somehow in bad taste? AWESOME!
John making that comment was in poor taste too, my comment was supposed to be sarcastic.

Apparently you can dish it out, but not interpret it...
Your delivery lacked....

Maybe you should fire your CC and/or bring some off road specialists to salvage everything.
Gray, I think that may be the first time I've ever completely agreed with you. Dead on man, the shame of it is a lot of the problems have been from the inside one way or another. A lot of them, I did hear what wasn't public, & lemme tell you some of it was sorry ass shit. I'm not now, nor have I ever titled myself as an insider. As for the sarcasim, I can tell you from personal experience, sometimes it's hard to make out in text. Oh well, it's on to 2009. Maybe we'll get our 3 wins we got I.O.U.'s for this year. I think we should get 30% interest on those as well, for a total of 4 wins to be paid out by Homestead '09.
For those of you unfamiliar, that was sarcasim
No doubt, sarcasm is always tricky when written, especially in internet forums like this where very few people actually know each other.

Despite what some may (apparently) think, I don't come here with a stick up my ass. Quite the opposite actually. I get a kick out of this place, if I didn't, I wouldn't bother!

Upward and onward, and all that stuff.....
Of course...
Just become a Jimmy Johnson fan and you can get a top 5 every week.

The Great Bevis and Butthead once said:

"If evreything was cool and nothing sucked, how would you know what was cool?"

I actually live my life by that saying.
edit: forget it
Not going to happen. Is it me or is NASCAR, Hendricks in particular, becoming Stepford Drivers?
When you start 28th in a Road Ralley, you need to go fast to reduce the dust in your face. Getting stuck in the mud is another issue. At least he knows where one weak spot is in his TT.

As to Dakar, you know after this fiasco, he will be driving to win the first stage. Hopefully, GM has paid him for the race otherwise we may see him with a filing against GM in Bankrupcy court.
Rough end to a rough year. Hopefully 2009 will bring better results.
You know the highlight of the year for me was the 2nd place finish in the Prelude to the Dream. Now I love Dirt Late Models better than just about anything racing related but I think that is sad given the talent that the man has. I would love to see him in a top flight cup car before he has to hang it up because he is too old!!! And what makes that double tough to take is that I don't think he has years enough to make that happen with his own team. I have no doubt that he will get better because of his tenacity but time is not on his side as a driver.

Well enough of that already, onward and outward, whatever the hell that is!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving to all you Robby fans!!!
