RUSTY WALLACE TO COMPETE IN OFF-ROAD TRUCK RACE AT X GAMES

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- NASCAR Hall of Famer Rusty Wallace will briefly return to competition by driving in Off-Road Truck Racing at the upcoming X Games.

Wallace retired from NASCAR competition after the 2005 season, and has periodically been back in a race car, including a test session in Brad Keselowski's Sprint Cup car at Daytona in 2014.

But the X Games in Austin held June 5-7 will be the 58-year-old Wallace's first time competing in Off-Road Truck Racing. His truck will be sponsored by Jimmy John's.

The Off-Road Truck racing competition will feature identically-prepared 600-horsepower trucks, all leased from Robby Gordon.

The trucks reach speeds up to 120 mph and hit man-made ramps at multiple locations throughout the course. The Baja-style race trucks will negotiate the seven-turn course made of both dirt and asphalt.

Honestly, I'm more of an In-n-Out cheeseburger kind of guy most of the time. In-n-Out takes care of their workers. Jimmy Johns just screws them over.

The $5.00 daily sandwich & drink combo at Togo's is hard to beat too. The Quiznos and Mr. Pickle locations in our neighborhood both gave up and closed. I think both are over priced personally.

I do understand that having a nationally known driver and a nationally known sponsor is great news for SST.

@Bruce, I was teasing you.;-) No sandwich place is a fair price IMO. That being said,Quiznos by my work couldn't make it,JJ's went in the same location, killing it.Same exact customer base.(T-Mobile corp. office)
At least JJ's is spending $ on race car advertising.
Mr.Pickle,In-n-Out. we don't have thou's

Mike, In-n-Out will be up there soon. They are breaking ground in a couple of weeks in Medford Oregon. For now that location will be serviced by the Northern California warehouse. They are shopping for a warehouse location around Portland and when that opens it will service Washington, Oregon, and Idaho.

This is really cool I hope Rusty is competitive I've read else where that folks would like to see more of the Lucas oil regulars and more extreme sport types but I think Rusty is perfect more main stream and well known add Jimmy Johns to that and it's a great get for Robby and SST.

This event is the popcorn and drinks queen Mary for sure.

Did you see Rusty's story on Nascrap today, talked about RG and SSt-good interview....

Rusty Wallace testing today at Charlotte Motor Speedway

Rusty is really SERIOUS about this !!! Hell only person I've seen with more testing time is Robby himself .

I'D wager other drivers have done more testing - but they were not big names in racing and didn't get the attention.

Arie Jr comes to mind

Testing at CMS is a "hey look at me".
