STAGE 3 TRACKING

STAGE 3: TERMAS DE RIO HONDO > SAN SALVADOR DE JUJUY

Connection 349km | Special Stage 314km | Total 663km

COURSE OVERVIEW

The format is tighter for the day’s race against the clock... as are the mountain tracks featuring in the special section. Experts in sliding and on the road will be able to showcase their skills here, as long as they stay constantly focused. Those hunting down the leaders will be on high alert during this route, which has been designed for opportunists. But the programme could also be transformed by any rain: even the strongest competitors do not necessarily perform well on heavy ground.

The GREEN section of the route is the connection , the RED is the Special Section of the stage.

Mike ... #391 Dakar Cat ... is Robby involved?

not that I'm aware of, Arctic Cat Europe

Sandi, they appear to be a team from the Czech Republic, FB page Rally#Cat. I couldn't find any affiliation with RG.

Boucou to the rescue!

Dakar makes grown men cry..

I might cry or more likely F-bomb away after rebuilding everything since March only to have electrical issues one the first real stage.

members where asking about Sheldon's time penalty earlier today. While this is NOT the answer, a speed zone penalty is likely.
Sheldon's comment's from yesterday-
“We passed about three cars right off the bat,” Creed noted. “The course was really fast for the first 100 kilometers, dust was the only thing that held us back. Well, that and the speed zones, those are pretty annoying when they are stacked back to back.”

Mike sounds about right:

28P3 PULSE SIGNAL (IMPULSION)

2) Any speeding recorded by the GPS will be penalised by the Clerk of Course, as follows: 

between 1 and 15 kph: 1 minute x the number of impulsions + a fixed amount of €100;
between 16 and 40 kph: 2 minutes x the number of impulsions + a fixed amount of €200;
more than 40 kph: 1st impulsion:

5 minutes + a fixed amount of €300;
2nd successive impulsion: 10 minutes + a fixed amount of €500;
3rd successive impulsion: 15 minutes + a fixed amount of €700;
4th successive impulsion: 60 minutes + a fixed amount of €1,500.

Peterhansel "There were a little too many speed limits for the villages. Every five kilometres we had a speed limit so it was not easy."

I think, today is good day for the team. Tomorrow will be the real first test.

Question : What is the class of the Gordini?
I ask this question because last year, the gordini was in Open class 1 (OP1). We can check the final result here :http://www.dakar.com/dakar/2015/us/stage-13/rankings/overall-op1-ca...

But this year, the gordini isn't in this class : http://www.dakar.com/dakar/2016/us/stage-400/rankings/overall-op1-c...

Some good video's here albeit mostly spanish. Scroll down on link for more videos.
