BC over on The Hot Pass is reporting...

"Word is that the vice president of motorsports at DEI, John Story has returned to his former stomping ground at Robby Gordon Motorsports...tough times indeed!"

As Spotted Cow once said... "Can't tell the players without your program!"

Is this good news? I don't think so. Let's hope the old shopforeman Rizzo? doesn't come back.
You mean Frank, that's exactly who they need running the shop, Frank Rizzo, he's a badass and he paints everything, he just doesn't do that union shit.
If he could only make RG go faster at Bristol and Martinsville...
haha. Robby is usually pretty quick at Bristol in race trim but his qualifying there, like everywhere sucks and when you start 30th at Bristol, you've got a 80% chance of getting caught up in someone else's mess.
I wouldn't be surprised if Robby has a thousand different resumes in his office right now.He is in position to hire first class help for very good dollar value.Betcha a bunch of employees in 2009 don't take racing for granted like they have in the past.
With John Story running the business side of things and Kaiser running the shop it could turn RGM into a very respectable operation and let Robby focus on driving.
I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure Johnny Kaiser going back east to help was just temp. Last I heard he was back here in Cali. Same thing with Danny Porter closing shop in Cali and going back east to work for RGM. If he is still there, it might be only temp as I heard he might now be working for another off-road shop in Cali.
I didn't see him doing anything earthshaking at DEI. I will reserve my opinions until we see who is actually there and how long they last.
I dont quite understand this move, but regardless in 2006 when Story was at RGM the team had its most competitive outings. Not that Story directly influenced this, but if he took some of the day to day weight off Robby, maybe that had a good effect.

Still, this seems odd to me.
It will be interesting to see how this works out and if it really changes anything at RGM
I don't know that I would equate John Story not landing sponsorship during this horrible fiscal year to him not being good at what he does. He helped Robby land the FOTL and Jim Beam deals. I think Robby had more to do with the Harrah's and Menards sponsorship. From everything I've read and heard, John and Robby have a good relationship and they trust each other. I'm glad to see him back.
I will reserve judgement for the time being!
