COURSE OVERVIEW
The longest special section of the Dakar takes place on the 6th day of consecutive racing. And that is not the only difficulty of this operation, which will take place between 3,500 and 4,200m in altitude. The pace and surfaces change constantly, alternating between sand and rock, which may be disconcerting, especially if it rains. Glimpses of the Salar d’Uyuni are but one of the visual delights on the agenda. Meanwhile, the truck category, which will race separately on this 6th stage, will visit the home town of the President Evo Morales.
The GREEN section of the route is the connection , the RED is the Special Section of the stage.

Hate to see him leave and doubt I will watch if he does but the world will keep spinning.
A stage podium or two serves as a strong tonic for what ails him. We will see.
It would stink, but if it's what he feels he needs to do than so be it. It would take a lot of the fun out of this race for a lot of people.

Chicherit is a DNF,
Due to personal reasons of driver Guerlain Chicherit, X-raid is forced to retire the buggy CBRA for good. Chicherit decided against continuing the Dakar and justified his decision with what happened on the past days and with his poor starting position for today’s stage. For X-raid, the involvement of the buggy is a pure test in competition conditions!
“We all knew – and this also applies to Guerlain – that the buggy is not yet competitive and had covered just a limited testing mileage, prior to the Dakar,” said X-raid Team Manager Sven Quandt. “He was the one who gave us the “go”, after the final tests. Our mechanics worked hard to make the buggy ready to race. So, his decision is a major disappointment for all of us and a set back for the development of the vehicle. Yesterday’s stage demonstrated the buggy’s potential as Guerlain held a top-10 position until he was stopped by a technical problem.”
