Connection 111km | Special Stage 285km | Total 396km

COURSE OVERVIEW

This loop stage will not really be one for motorbikes and quad bikes, which will finish the first part of this second marathon stage in an isolated bivouac. Prior to this they will have spent the day, alongside the drivers in the other categories, almost entirely off-piste, both in the vegetation-scattered dunes and on harder terrains, sometimes on river beds. Physically, the day might prove to be a significant challenge, as the mercury soars. The hardiest drivers will also be those who are the most clear headed, able to make the right navigational choices, a major challenge of this special section.

The GREEN section of the route is the connection , the RED is the Special Section of the stage.

Looks like The Ning servers are BW constrained today. PR is not performing as it should. We are at 63% of the goal to keep Planet Robby alive in 2016. In years past they were able to buy better support for the Dakar. The $$ shortages realy show when we average 40K hits a thread.

CARS: MORE MISHAPS FOR LOEB
Sébastien Loeb, after rolling his car yesterday, has not particularly savoured the day's special. Starting behind the wheel of a Peugeot DKR repaired by his mechanics, the former general standings leader has had a fair few setbacks again today. Stuck in the sand on several occasions, the nine times WRC winner has reached the finishing line in 18th position, 1 hour and 13 minutes behind Sainz!!!

Well shoot, Sainz finishes the stage in 2hr 35 mins, and Robby is already 1hr 45mins behind the leader ? I'm really surprised at the ongoing troubles Robby seems to be having this year. Granted he had problems in the past, but I really was not expecting things to be this rough for the Gordinis this year, particularly with the addition of a team mate.
