STAGE 9 TRACKING

STAGE 9: BELEN > BELEN

Connection 111km | Special Stage 285km | Total 396km

COURSE OVERVIEW

This loop stage will not really be one for motorbikes and quad bikes, which will finish the first part of this second marathon stage in an isolated bivouac. Prior to this they will have spent the day, alongside the drivers in the other categories, almost entirely off-piste, both in the vegetation-scattered dunes and on harder terrains, sometimes on river beds. Physically, the day might prove to be a significant challenge, as the mercury soars. The hardiest drivers will also be those who are the most clear headed, able to make the right navigational choices, a major challenge of this special section.

The GREEN section of the route is the connection , the RED is the Special Section of the stage.

Next to the cancellation in 2008, this could be the worst Dakar ever.

Same year the boat got stranded right??

Memory eludes me.

Guess no one remembers the boat with the broken prop.

I feel so alone!!

Reminds me of how I felt when the COT was launched. Strange rules like Lucky Dogs, Wave Arounds, Tandem drafting etc followed. This is the opposite of what RG likes. Either all the same (like IROC or SST) or open the rule book up. This hybrid only benefits the big $$ teams that can eek out HP with tons of engineering.

Rules in the trash and lets go racing folks.

As long as we don't have to listen to!!

Boogity Boogity Boogity.

I actually liked tandem drafting. It was interesting to see who worked good with whom. Tended to favor multi-car teams somewhat, but I liked those races.

I didn't mind it, but it only existed because of unintended consequences. When you tighten the rules only the high dollar teams can get those 10th of a second back. The privateers can't. You create 2 classes. For Dakar the rules created 15 competitive cars and the rest are racing to say they did.

I am still in confusion as to the restrictor size, I thought the Gordini was 100% FIA specs yet from my understanding the restrictor is for FIA/Score?

39mm for us and single stage turbos
38mm dual stage turbos
37 for the Toyota's and Ford of Pons

I thought we had a 37mm, thanks for the clearing that up
