I wonder how the roomer mill will tie RGM into this deal?
Is Held the same guy that used to help run RG's Champcar operation?

That didn't take long...
- One of the biggest questions of the 1999 silly
season was finally answered when Robby Gordon,
along with partners John Menard and Mike Held, today
announced the formation of Team Gordon, which will
campaign the Johns Manville/Panasonic/Menard Swift
Toyota in this year's CART FedEx Championship Series

Team Gordon general manager and owner Mike Held feels
everyone on the team will feed off of Robby's high
energy and determination.
"We're tackling a big job here at Team Gordon," Held
said. "We're starting with a clean sheet of paper and
we'll be going non-stop until the first race pulling it
all together. Each person knows he has a specific job to
do and if we take care of business, no matter how many
hours it takes, there is a huge bonus for us on race day
Robby Gordon. His day-to-day enthusiasm drives us, but
ultimately it's his talent to drive the wheels off
whatever we put on the track that keeps us inspired.
It's not a question of believing he can win, it's a
matter of knowing he will win that makes it fun and
worthwhile."

Same guy?
yep
the article on Nascar.com mentions the past relationship between Held and RG. Also Triad Racing Development will focus on providing chassis and engine support to race teams. I read it to mean they will not field race cars themselves.
per Jayski:

New Bill Davis Racing majority owners Marty Gaunt and Mike Held say they hope to have the #22 Sprint Cup car on the track in 2009 but likely won’t be able to announce firm plans for another few weeks. Gaunt [said] that Mark Chambers will remain as general manager with other leadership positions at BDR to be determined in the next few weeks. Bill Davis will be available as a consultant, Gaunt indicated.(Scene Daily)(12-22-2008)
No sponsor is going to sign with them. Why don't they just run the Daytona race with a skeleton crew and a start and park? The purse is big enough for them to make money some $$ that race.
TRIAD was always a separate entity from the Cup and Truck operation.
WOW! Why so surprised? Bill Davis has had his team up for sale ever since CAT announced they were leaving to RCR. Davis recently said driver Dave Blaney was not under contract for 2009 and free to look for other opportunities. Bill was in great position with a sell to GEM, but Nascar stopped that deal.

This is no suprise, BDR is gonna run 3 to 4 trucks next year and a possible Nationwide team (pending sponsorship).
