14:51 Sainz limits the damage
After a loss of 5 minutes on the first third of the special, possibly due to a flat tyre, Carlos Sainz is driving at the same pace as the stage leaders. The general standings leader is still the same amount of time behind Stéphane Peterhansel after 347 km and should therefore still be leading the rally this evening.

17:28 Hildebrand just beats Guthrie
Blade Hildebrand has confirmed that his victory on stage 7 was not merely down to chance. The young American driver has won his second stage triumph in Haradh by only 58 seconds, in front of his team-mate Mitchell Guthrie, who is also continuing the rally via the Dakar Experience formula and is therefore also absent from the general standings. Casey Currie, the third placed driver on the special, is well and truly at the top of the general standings and today gains several minutes over Sergei Kariakin and Chaleco Lópe
