Ricky Brabec is as gutsy as they come. The American on Honda no. 9 is determined to take his first Dakar victory in style and has posted the fastest time at km 119, beating teammate Ignacio Cornejo by 18 seconds.

Pablo Quintanilla has wrapped up today's special and will now tackle the neutralised sector as well as the Qiddiya Grand Prix, which has no bearing on the general classification. Barring any last-minute surprises, the Chilean biker will finish the Dakar in second place —his best result in eight starts.
