January 5th-10th, the Rally Raid starts in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and races North East before racing to South Eastern city of Riyadh.

January 11th, Rest Day Riyadh

January 12th-17th, the Rally Raid continues from Riyadh through the South Eastern area of Saudi Arabia before heading to West, finishing in Qiddiya.

Would like to see what a no speed limit and equal power-to-weight ratio SSV would do.

That is the reason they run in SSV, distinguishes them from the buggies in the "car" section

It is not the reason they are classified in a different category. Neither qualifies to run in the other category(no a SSV cannnot “race up” in the car category). They are completely different specifications. Buggies are not a class in Dakar. Vehicles are built to meet a specific class’ set of rules. Those classes are rolled up into the categories (SSV, car, truck, bike, quad).
