Join us for the Dakar Rally's first day on Jan 3, 2009 , right here and chat about the action during the first stage

Stage 1 - Saturday, January 3
Buenos Aires > Santa Rosa
Connection: 196 km | Special: 371 km | Connection: 166 km | Total: 733 km
Many have heard of La Pampa, where men are reputed to be “rough, but always courteous”. This first stage will provide the opportunity to discover the length of these vast plains. Dakar competitors have never faced such a long special. With over 400 km of rolling routes, perhaps the fastest on the program, this will constitute a real warm-up.

I hope he doesnt gun through the pack. better to let other people take point right now
apparently Eric hasn't even left yet?
Robby should be passing through the first checkpoint any minute now.
i'm willing to bet that he already has gone thru km 48.. the tracker just hasn't been updated yet.

the tracker seems to be really slow
yeah, you are right.
so typical..... the tracker is showing the first 9 cars thru km 48 and of course RG would be 10!
This is driving me INSANE already and its only the first stage!!! Damn slow trackers!!
I keep forgetting you west coast peeps are up way early.
yep that's me!!! i had my sister call me at 4am to make sure i was up... i am NOT a morning person!
why don't you just give your brother a call? tell him the tracker isn't working good and we want updates... I'm sure he wouldn't mind.....LOL....
the tracker isn't updating.. only shows 9 people thru km 48.... but on the main dakar page it says 3 cars thru CP1 @ km134
5 cars thru CP-1.. still no update on tracker as for who the cars are or times... arghhh!
