Stage 2 Recap From Ramses of Toyo Tires
Here is a recap of stage 2 from Ramses of Toyo Tires.
Right now I am in the Bivouac in Puerto Madryn Argentina. It is a beautiful coastal town set in the Patagonian sea. Today I rode in the media H1 Hummer for eight hundred and thirty seven kilometers. It is summer time over here; and today it got as hot as one hundred and eight degrees. Stage two started in Santa Rosa and finished in Puerto Madryn. The race special was two hundred and thirty seven kilometers with a liaison of six hundred kilometers. Robby started the stage in seventeenth place after a conservative performance the stage before. He passed three cars right away but it was very dusty and silty. Robby ended up getting stuck because there was a quad stopped in the silt and to avoid hitting him he had to stop. He was not down for that long but then quickly after ended up suffering a flat tire. When we inspected the tire, there was a huge gash in the thread. There was no way possible a rock or a tree root did that. We came to the conclusion that it had to have been a metal object on the course. Gordon finished tenth in the stage with a time of two hours five minutes and thirty eight seconds. He was nine minutes and twenty four seconds behind the stage winner Sainz. Robby estimates he lost about seven minutes with those small issues he had. He now moves in to the top ten trailing Sainz by twenty one minutes and thirty two seconds. With the whole rally still ahead, he feels very confident of what the final out come could be. Eric Vigouroux also had a good day. He finished twenty third and moves up to twenty second overall. Eric said that he had a trouble free day; he was just stuck behind all the dust and did not want to take a big risk so early in the rally. Tomorrow’s stage will be a very long one for the Hummers. Robby and Eric will race for a total of six hundred and sixteen kilometers from Puerto Madryn to Jacobacci Argentina.

According to the Dakar website, there were 177 Cars to start the Dakar Rally on Stage 1. On Stage 2, there were 173 "scheduled" to start, but only 172 did. On Stage 3, there were 170 "scheduled" to start, but only 160 did. Only 12 have been officially withdrawn according to the Dakar website (2 on Stage 2, 10 on Stage 3).
