Stage 6 - Thursday, January 8
San Rafael > Mendoza
Connection: 76 km | Special: 395 km | Connection: 154 km | Total: 625 km
The day’s program is once again full of crossings, since the special begins with around sixty kilometers of dunes. The trail becomes easier in the second part, but competitors might well be slowed down by a wide ford that must be crossed with exceeding skill to avoid an extended bath. On arrival at Mendoza, the rally will penetrate the foothills of the Andes mountain range.

Morning Bill Morning Robby world. Wow. that was the stage like the big dunes in Africa two years ago when it took out a big chunk of the field. THey said they are taking out the part with the impassable river which is later in the stage so probally good news for Robby. Shorter stage so not a big chance to make a time move ,but good opportunity for two Americans on two podiums. Ya Think?

thnk this isnt a riverbed but a very deep river. they would have to walk backwards up the course and award first place posthumously

So they cut out the last part of the stage? That is really good for the Hummer's chances today for a stage win!!
The race starts in a little more than half an hour!!

I agree...that was my post yesterday about how starting 3rd w ewould probbaly kick arse in the dunes and be the first car on time and physically to the river...which worried me..

With it out of the way, if Robby drives it clean, looking for a stage win and maybe 5-10 min taken off the cars in fron tof him

Driving the dunes will put the VWs behind him.. staying out of trouble is the name of the game. The Hummer was made for this. Still waiting to see if Peterhansel starts today!!
