Lots of rigs still on the course, only one has

“CHALECO” CLOSES IN ON VICTORY | T3
05:48

After 348 km, “Chaleco” López has accomplished the best time, but his lead over Mitchell Guthrie has dropped to 2’30’’ as opposed to 4 minutes at the previous time check. López is going strong, but he is not totally out of the woods. As seen in the other categories, the final straight of stage 2 can hold surprises in store…

***UPDATE***
A good day for the US drivers

GUTHRIE WINS IN T3! | T3

Mitchell Guthrie is victorious! Having managed to gain time all along the route, the American did not give an inch and has finished 1’30’’ ahead of “Chaleco” López, who keeps the lead in the general rankings.

Kellon Walsh is co-dawg for Mitchell

Andrew Short is co-dawg for #414 T4 Molly Taylor -6th in class today

Thanks Mike... Eric

Looks like lots of tyre issues. Glad to see Kellon doing well.

Hi Eric, Yes, tire punctures have been the story for the first two stages in the car division.

Interesting in that video they were removing rock outcroppings. I don't remember that before (although I have been a very casual Dakar follower the last few years)

I found it interesting that Eryk Goczal became the youngest driver to win a DAKAR stage. Driving in the T4 UTV class, his birthday stated on his driver's license is 6/11/2004. Also Eryk co-dawged for his dad as a 16yo.
If Max were to win a DAKAR stage in 4 years, it would need to be two days before, as Max was born on 6/10/2008. Maybe Max will get his first taste of DAKAR in 2025? Purely dreaming on my part.
