Winner of the 2nd stage, @mason_klein1 didn't take the start this morning. The young American was injured since he crashed twice on stage 9. An X-ray at the bivouac yesterday found nothing abnormal but Klein eventually decided to withdraw.

After a strong performance that put him in the lead at km 114, Hélder Rodrigues ran out of steam in the last section and finished the special about 15 minutes behind Mitch Guthrie. The American claimed his fifth stage win in this Dakar by 50 seconds over Ignacio Casale and 57 over Seth Quintero. Austin Jones conceded 10 minutes on Quintero in the battle for the overall, but he remains over 54 minutes clear of his countryman going into the finale.
