January 5th, the Rally Raid starts in Alula, Saudi Arabia and races South East before racing to the North to the city of Yanbu.

Skyler Howes ground to a halt after 39 km due to a mechanical problem. The North American is unable to repair his Honda and has decided to exit the rally. He was in 13th place in the general rankings yesterday evening, more than three quarters of an hour behind Ross Branch.

The Toyota Overdrive driver was general rankings leader at the beginning of stage 6, but on returning to the bivouac in Shubaytah explained the reasons behind his withdrawal from the stage.

“After 51 kilometres, everything was ok on a very flat chott and we were at full speed when I hit something. The car did a barrel roll and now it is damaged”.
