Stage 8 - Sunday, January 11

Valparaiso > La Serena

Connection: 245 km | Special: 294 km | Connection: 113 km | Total: 652 km
After a day of rest on the shores of the Pacific Ocean, an easier restart has been programmed. On mid-range mountain roads, driving hotshots should be able to really strut their stuff. The experts in car positioning, trajectory and sudden braking will show how it’s done. But for the rally leaders, there is certainly more to be lost than won during this stage.

would 4wd help the Hummer

Its going to be more than 20 minutes.

4wd has advantages, look at how the Mitsubishi and VWs do.

Also, they both also outperform the Hummer on torque.

The Hummer has better HP and suspension.

If RG and GM had tried to develop a T1 style vehicle like the VW and Mitsubishis, they would NEVER have caught up with them. They had to do something different, and they did. And its worked fairly well. But in the end they're slightly outclassed right now.

Less travel in the suspension would have been better today.

Someone smarter than me will have to answer about the wheel size. Which won't be hard to find someone....

But I know on a tight winding gravel course the travel of the Hummer isn't going to be an advantage. The more open courses are good for the Hummer.

i think the VWs and Mitsubishis just have quicker accleration to top speed and handle better on the flat, tighter windy roads than the hummer...which the early few stages and this were...
